By Kate Stubbs

Congratulations to our team for receiving the Annual Contractors’ Safety Award from the Sappi Ngodwana Mill. At Interwaste, safety is one of our key priorities and is a value for which we are all accountable. By living our values and purpose of Serving Land and Life, we are taking care of ourselves and the lives of those around us and protecting and preserving the health of our precious ecosystems.

Interwaste has provided integrated waste management services for Sappi Ngodwana Mill for over 25 years. This is a remarkable achievement and is testament to the team onsite consistently meeting Sappi’s expectations. The Safety Award they received for “Best Contractor for 2021” recognises frequent and high levels of housekeeping and safety standards achieved throughout the year.

Sappi audits all contractors regularly to ensure they are adhering to the requisite onsite safety rules and guidelines. Our team is fully committed to safety and enhanced their performance through weekly Toolbox Talks, ongoing training, development, and awareness campaigns, and setting themselves high standards of housekeeping. Their own performance contributed to reducing Sappi’s Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate.

We are proud of our team at Sappi Ngodwana Mill for receiving this Safety Award as it confirms they are living our brand and values in all that they do. We are grateful to Sappi for recognising the value of safety and for celebrating this success with our team.

Thank you and well done to all involved in delivering such excellent results. Keep up the high standards and great work!
